Local Leisure Trust, Your Leisure will take over the responsibility of The Secret Jungle, a unique outdoor recreation space for disabled children in Margate this week.
The Secret Jungle, at Northdown House in Northdown Park Road, offers an outdoor play space specifically designed around the needs and wishes of disabled children. They and their families enjoy somewhere safe to go where they can feel relaxed and safe in an environment which is stimulating and fun.
At the Jungle, siblings, peers, non-disabled children and their families as well as the wider community are encouraged to join with disabled children in play.
“We’re delighted to be taking over the reins of the Secret Jungle, a well-used play area which is valued by many children and families with its fantastic natural play area and community activities.
It provides a safe, exciting and natural environment to enable disabled children and their families to enjoy being outdoors. Your Leisure’s headquarters are at Northdown House, where the Jungle is, so it makes perfect sense for us to take over. We already work in the local community across Thanet.
Visitors will have the same access to this wonderful facility and we look forward to supporting the community at the Secret Jungle in the years to come.”
Steve Davis, Managing Director of Your Leisure
Your Leisure will start managing the Secret Jungle from Tuesday 2nd December when it is handed over from The Children’s Society and aims to make the service sustainable and enable it to thrive beyond the end of Big Lottery Funding in 2016.
