The Level 1 and Level 2 Combination course develops your knowledge, skills and abilities to become a Swim England Level 2 Swimming Teacher gives you the skills to independently deliver swimming lessons.
Who is the course designed for?
Anyone who has a background in swimming, either actively or through volunteering and is interested in starting a career in teaching swimming and wants to become a Level 2 Swimming Teacher. (please also see eligibility)
Course content
The combined course is delivered through a mixture of classroom activities and practical poolside-based learning sessions and covers the core knowledge that is required to become a qualified Swimming Teacher, including:
- Delivery of prepared activities within a session
- Planning and preparation of teaching activities
- Monitoring and evaluating a series of swimming lessons
- Roles and responsibilities within a learn to swim programme
- Health & Safety in the aquatic environment
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years of age. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, BUT you do need previous experience of teaching either through voluntary assistance of more than 2 years or knowledge and understand of all technical strokes and aquatic skills through a career pathway of club swimming.
