Hartsdown Pool Reopening
We are pleased to announce that Hartsdown Leisure Centre pool is reopening with our regular swim programme recommencing on Monday 26 June 2023.

***UPDATE 18 JANUARY 2023***
Please be aware that the whole Hartsdown car park will be closed on Thursday 2 February as works on the roof continue - the centre is open as usual on this day. We apologise for the inconvenience this one-day closure will cause but rest assured that the closure is to facilitate a main element of the works that will ensure progress continues and the roof repairs remain on schedule. The overflow (tennis court) car park will continue to remain closed during the works.
***UPDATE 29 NOVEMBER 2022***
Your Leisure is pleased to announce that the repairs to Hartsdown Leisure Centre have now been finalised and works on the site will commence from Wednesday 30 November 2022. The current programme of works aims to be completed towards the end of April 2023 and therefore we will be looking at reopening the swimming pool in May. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the timescales associated with the work required and we will be doing everything we can to maintain the programme schedule as detailed above and will keep customers updated via our newsletters, social media and website.
Please note that while the work is taking place the overflow car park will be closed for contractors use. We look forward to welcoming customers back to the swimming pool in due course.

While the pool remains closed for the repairs, there is no change in the current status of Swim School and frozen Live Better SWIM memberships as per previous updates.
***UPDATE 27 MAY 2022***
It is with deep regret that the extent of the damage to the Hartsdown pool roof has created further complex required works due to its construction. Upon further inspection by engineers and building experts, it is likely that these works and associated building requirements will take much longer than previously expected and will extend the closure of the swimming pool into early 2023. We sincerely apologise for this news, we know it is not what you wished to receive but please be assured that we are working hard with our partners at Thanet District Council, structural engineers, contractors and building inspectors to ensure that these works are commenced and completed effectively to ensure the longevity of the facility. As you will appreciate, the current supply chain and inflation issues may also hinder progress in relation to the procurement of specialist materials.
To confirm our actions in respect of your membership with us.
Swim School: Unless participants have moved to an alternative facility, those that have not transferred and been accommodated elsewhere within our programme, have had their subscription frozen and these will only be reinstated once we have a definitive re-opening date for the swimming pool. We will contact all swimmers/parents to advise of collection dates when reinstatement can be confirmed. If, however, you would like to continue your Swim School course at another centre, then please contact our customer service team.
Live Better Swim Members: Unless members have requested the reinstatement of their membership to utilise other facilities, these will have been frozen and will only be reinstated once we have a definitive re-opening date for the swimming pool and we will contact members directly to advise of collection date and reinstatement of your membership when we can confirm this.
All other memberships will remain active due to other facilities continuing to remain open during this time.

***PREVIOUS UPDATE 18 March 2022***Further to our last communication, it is with deep regret that we will, unfortunately, have to extend the closure of the swimming pool at Hartsdown Leisure Centre beyond the previously communicated date of 4 April. We sincerely apologise for this news and share your disappointment that we cannot share a more positive update. Due to the damage received to the swimming pool roof during the recent storms, and following a further detailed inspection, the extent of the damage is more than originally identified and repairs have now become replacements alongside other identified related works.As you will appreciate, this has now extended the projected timelines and we are working with a number of contractors to obtain definitive and realistic timescales on which works will be completed. Once we have more concrete information regarding the re-opening dates of the swimming pool, we will advise our swimming customers at the earliest opportunity.
Hartsdown Leisure Centre - Live Better Swim Members:
Direct Debit Customers: If you currently have a Live Better Swim Membership at Hartsdown Leisure Centre, which is paid via Direct Debit collection, we will be freezing this so that no further collections are taken. Once we are able to confirm reopening dates we will adjust your account accordingly to take into consideration any lost time incurred by the closure of the swimming pool.
Upfront Customers: If you have purchased an Upfront Annual Live Better Swim Membership, then, once we have a confirmed reopening date for the swimming pool, your membership will be extended to take into account any lost time incurred by the closure of the swimming pool.
Hartsdown Leisure Centre – Swim School Members:
Stage 1 & 2: We will be relocating all Stage 1 and Stage 2 classes from Hartsdown Leisure Centre to our facility at Blue Wave Hydrotherapy Pool & Gym in Margate during the period of closure from Monday 7 March 2022. We will therefore make the necessary adjustments to your subscription to take account of any lesson missed during this period (Friday 18 February through to Sunday 6 March) and ask that you contact our Customer Service Team on 03333 660 661 to confirm your day and time as these may change slightly, however, every effort will be made to keep these as close to your current schedule.
Stage 3 and above: Unfortunately, Stage 3 and above will be suspended during the closure and subscriptions for these lessons at Hartsdown will be frozen to ensure no further payment is taken. Please be assured that as soon as we are able to re-open we will adjust your first subscription collection for any lessons that have been paid for and subsequently missed due to this closure. There may be opportunities for some swimmers to transfer to our lesson programme at Ramsgate Leisure Centre, however, this will be on a first come first serve basis and where space is available. If you wish to transfer then please contact our customer service team on 03333 660 661.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused by these recent events and do ask members not to cancel their memberships as this will ensure we can quickly reinstate your usage once we are able to re-open the facility.
All other activities at Hartsdown Leisure Centre, including The Feelgood Factory, The Gym, Group Ex Programme, Café and Hartsdown Gymnastics Centre remain open as do all our other facilities, Ramsgate Leisure Centre, Blue Wave Hydrotherapy Pool & Gym and Tides Leisure Centre.
