The ASPIRE Project held a Summer Open Day at Bechange Community Hub in Aylesham on Thursday 30 June, with dozens of clients, community members and partners passing through the door.
ASPIRE is an innovative FREE programme, supported by Your Leisure, to help improve health, wellbeing, and job prospects. It offers a range of workshops and activities including vegetable growing, healthy cookery courses, an NHS weight loss programme, exercise classes, healthy walks, leisure centre membership, accredited training courses and job application and CV workshops. There’s also a chance to practise for job interviews.
The event aimed to increase awareness of the project, providing an opportunity to see some of the activities on offer, all within the setting of the fantastic community garden at the Bechange Hub.
Laura Campbell, ASPIRE project co-ordinator, explained: “We work predominantly helping people get back into employment, to help people feel better, be healthier, improve themselves and their lives. ASPIRE team leader Ivan Kent added that some people have progressed really well, going on to volunteer at the project themselves as well as finding new work.
A new webpage has been launched giving details of what activities are on offer. To find out more, and sign up, visit www.bechange.org.uk/about-aspire/ and fill in the project contact form at the bottom of the page.
