Residents of Deal now have even more opportunities to take up tennis following the improvements to the community tennis courts at Victoria Park.  The three courts received investment from Dover District Council and a grant from the LTA, the governing body for tennis in Great Britain, to give them a new surface, nets, posts, fencing and a new smart access gate making it an “ace” place to try out your skills.

The three courts will be LTA registered venues for ‘Clubspark’ a seamless system that integrates online court bookings through the LTA Rally digital platform, and provides players with coded entry to the court via a ‘smart’ gate.

Gavid Vickers, Head of Leisure Services for Your Leisure, said; “We now have a real opportunity to help improve the health and well-being of the people of Deal through the power of tennis.  Tennis is a uniquely social sport that is a hobby for life and enables people of all ages to maintain a healthy and enjoyable lifestyle. Your Leisure is proud to be working with Dover District Council on this latest project and is excited to support the council with its drive to improve local sports and leisure facilities.”

Tennis is the ultimate socially distanced sport, making it safe but also fun.  With Deal Indoor Tennis Centre across the road, Walmer Lawn Tennis Club with its world-class grass courts within walking distance, and now this enhanced installation, tennis in Deal is certainly taking a huge step forward.  Who knows, the next Andy Murray might be from Deal.

The tennis courts can be booked online using the LTA Rally Platform: Learn More & Book Online
