Thanet’s New Age Kurling World Championships Success

The Thanet New Age Kurling team made waves in the Great Britain Kurling Association World Championships over the early May Bank Holiday weekend. The team demonstrated their prowess in a sport they have been devoted to for over five years with plenty of podium results including a win in the pairs consolation and finishing runners up in the pairs main competition.

The World Championships, which are run by the Great Britain Kurling Association, were held at the prestigious John Bunyan Centre in Bedford making it a great showcase for the sport.

Dave Mather, club chairperson, said; “We represented not just our area but the sport overall. It was a phenomenal weekend with teams from all over the UK competing but most importantly connecting through the love of the game. The Thanet team has 8 pairs competing in the pairs and 15 in the singles. We won the singles and the runner-up claiming the title World Champions. We’ve been working hard and are thankful to all our members and Your Leisure for providing the opportunity to work on the KCC-funded Wellbeing project delivering subsidised courses to help everyone get more active regardless of ability.”
